Welcoming the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette and Online Giving Update

For over 60 years, the Archdiocese of St. Louis has embraced the Church’s missionary character through the works of our Latin America Apostolate. Since its conception, over 45 of our archdiocesan priests have served in the Latin America Apostolate at five different parishes. This year, Fr. Eric Olsen volunteered to serve the people of Bolivia. Fr. Olsen will work alongside Fr. Patrick Hayden and Fr. James Michler at the parish of Maria Reina in La Paz. After dutifully serving in the Latin America Apostolate for the past 5 years, we joyfully welcome the return of Fr. Timothy Noelker as Director of the Missions Office and the Pontifical Mission Societies. Although the value of his work in Bolivia is immeasurable, we are grateful that Fr. Noelker will remain involved in the Latin America Apostolate in his new role.

Pope Francis tells us, “Mission reminds the Church that she is not an end unto herself, but a humble instrument and mediation of the Kingdom”. Our Latin America Apostolate illustrates this statement, reminding us that, as the faithful of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, we are called to be the Church to everyone, not just those within the boundaries of our archdiocese. Our missionaries witness our commitment to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people of all nations. The Latin America Apostolate strives not only to meet the physical and spiritual needs of parishioners through the celebration of the sacraments, catechesis, and formation, but the entire local community through the Maria Reina Health Clinic, the Lunch & Tutoring Program, and other forms of community outreach.

None of this missionary work would be possible without the prayers and sacrifices of the people of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Please pray for our Latin America Apostolate, missionaries. Ask God how He is calling you to participate in this mission financially. The annual collection for our Latin America Apostolate will take place this weekend: July 29 and 30th.

On the weekend of August 5th and 6th, St. Dominic Savio parish will be welcoming the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette as our part in the annual Missionary Plan of Cooperation. Fr. Joby, MS will represent La Salette missionaries who work in 27 different countries, especially among the poor in Angola, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Haiti, India, Madagascar, Myanmar and the Philippines.

Many of you participate in our parish’s online giving program. Your generous giving is appreciated by so many and helps our parish carry on the work Jesus gave us. To help us maintain and grow this mission, our parish is in the process of transitioning from ParishPay to WeShare, a new online giving tool. WeShare makes it easier than ever for you to manage your online contributions and will save our parish time and money.

To make this transition as seamless as possible for those of you who participate in the online giving program and to ensure our records are up-to-date, we need a few minutes of your help. Please visit our parish website, click the ParishPay link, and log into your online giving account. Review your contact information, address, payment method, and current giving for accuracy. Make any necessary changes and that’s it. If you run into any issues accessing your account, please contact Customer Service at 1-800-950-9952, and select Option One.

Sacred Heart of Jesus, pray for us!

Fr. Paul J. Rothschild
