As Father Rothschild announced in June, building on the parish viability study that St. George
did in 2015 and the parish planning that St. Dominic did in 2015 (the process that led to the
successful incorporation of our school into Holy Cross Academy), the parish councils of St. George
and St. Dominic Savio endorsed the creation of a Visioning Team. The focus of the team was
answering the question: How are we going to have a vibrant parish in five to ten years with the
current demographic and financial realities as well as having one shared priest?
For the past eight weeks, the Visioning Team has been studying trends in the Catholic
population and registered parishioners in both parishes to determine how the St. Dominic Savio and
St. George Parish Community can collaborate on a 5 to 10-year plan of growth.
We’ve discussed the need to create a vibrant Catholic Church that serves all people in our parishes
including outreach to the needy and those who have left the faith and how we can build a vibrant
parish life centered around meaningful, transformative worship and faith formation for all ages.
We’re also working on the perpetuation of an operationally sound church that continues to practice
good stewardship of the generous gifts of its people.
We believe all of this can best be accomplished through the cooperative efforts of all St. Dominic
Savio and St. George parishioners.
