Savio Scene's goal is to serve as a communications tool, nurturing communication within our parish.
Father Dave Novak referred to Savio Scene as "The Good News newsletter" during his homily earlier this year and that pretty well sums up what Savio Scene is all about. There are so many beautiful things taking place within our parish every day, every week. Hopefully, Savio Scene will bring us to a closer understanding of these things.
The concept of a parish newsletter was presented to the Parish Council in 1991 and was quickly approved with funding coming from the Parish Activities Fund. Named Savio Scene, the first issue arrived at parishioners' mailboxes in the fall of that year.
Content of Savio Scene was to go beyond simply announcing parish events. It was to include personal stories of parishioners, stories of personal experiences in their lives and stories of what they have done serving in the many ministries available within the parish. Savio Scene was to be a means of introduction to those around us, that parishioner that sits next to us during Mass but who we never really knew. It should both inform and entertain us, to make us laugh and sometimes cry when we read of hardships overcome by others. Savio Scene will hopefully make us count our blessings and realize how varied life is within our parish family at St. Dominic Savio.
